Expert Wisdom: In Office Skin Treatments & Why We Love Them

By: Laura Richey, In-House Esthetician

As much as any of us would love to be able to age gracefully by embracing our skin's natural beauty and perhaps by using the occasional lotion or potion, the reality is that many of us over time will have to turn to more advanced clinical techniques and treatments in order to be able to truly see the results we hope to achieve and maintain.

I’m not talking about major surgical intervention or procedures, but low-invasive, technologically advanced (and often more affordable) clinical treatments like:

  • photofacials (IPL, BBL)
  • ablative laser resurfacing (Fraxel)
  • microneedling
  • microcurrent
  • infrared tightening (NIR)

There are hundreds of variations of treatments in the beauty universe and with the right guidance and clinical techniques, you can easily achieve phenomenal success by supporting the healthy function and behaviors of your skin, along with its cellular structure and activities, making it easier to maintain the visible youth of your skin, since healthy skin = youthful skin. So often in clinic we can achieve remarkable results because someone decided to take the step of having one of these treatments done, rather than throwing their hands in the air with frustration and resigning to “looking old” when you don’t have to… you just need a little help and support.

Why After Care Is Important

Once you’ve had any of these treatments, regardless of the modality chosen, there are key actions you need to take to ensure their success - the main one being to make sure the products you use at home directly support the treatment you had by supporting the desired outcome. For example, the last thing you want to do after a deep exfoliating treatment would be to use heavy, rich, or occlusive products that would potentially congest your skin; you choose products to ensure the clearing and support of that exfoliation, and allow your skin to go through its natural processes in the immediate days following. After care should be kind and gentle to your skin, no matter what treatment you chose.

How To Use Cosmette After A Treatment

When you choose to pursue advanced treatment, using Cosmette at home will support any of the choices you may be exploring, because its entire design is to support healthy skin behavior through gentle activation and proper nourishment:

  • Gentle cleansing actions of the Dreamy Oil Detox and Fresh Awakening Cleanser, which ensure thorough cleansing of skin that may be feeling a bit delicate, while not leaving it feeling stripped, tight, or irritated.
  • Rose Garden Renewal or Sweet Plum Oil, both of which are rich with nourishing ingredients to help support the gentle healing and cellular rebuilding that many treatments initiate.
  • Finishing with Timeless Hydration for the final step of ensuring your skin will be softly hydrated and protected while not overloading it and leaving it feeling heavy while it heals.

Each step is carefully designed with keeping your skin in its most healthy state in mind, and each step you take after your treatment will ensure the best possible results that you can achieve. Which is the point, after all.
